Adrian Beltre plays strikeout mini golf at home plate

One of the worst things about the end of the baseball season is that there will be no new highlights from Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre for at least six months. And considering how he’s kept us entertained this season, that’s a shame. He’s stared down players who prematurely celebrate home runs, he almost started a new dance craze, he’s singled from his knee, and he still hates having his head touched. And he’s done it all while hitting .298/.356/.519.

So what did he do this time? He decided to play a little putt-putt mini golf at home plate.

It happened on Monday night while the Rangers were playing the Milwaukee Brewers. In the fifth inning, facing Brewers pitcher Matt Garza, Beltre swung through dead air for strike three, ending his at-bat (and also the inning). Brewers catcher Martin Maldonado couldn’t hold on to the ball, and it dribbled out of his glove and in front of the plate. Beltre, who seemed frustrated at himself for the strikeout, clearly saw an opportunity to sharpen his putting skills. So as the ball rolled in front of him he took the fat end of the bat and putted the baseball down the third base line.

Maldonado didn’t seem terribly thrilled to have to run after the ball, but that’s because Beltre executed a pretty solid putt. See for yourself, via MLB’s Cut4.

If we baseball fans asked him, do you think Adrian Beltre would upload a few videos of himself doing ridiculously awesome things during the offseason? They don’t even have to be baseball related! During the long, dark, cold offseason, even a video of Beltre flipping an omelette or dancing with a vacuum cleaner would be welcome.
