Carlos Gomez moonshot leaves Adrian Beltre and Joey Gallo awestruck

How often do you see something that’s truly surprising and amazing? Something that makes your eyes bug out and your mouth fall open in awe? For Adrian Beltre and Joey Gallo of the Texas Rangers, it was just Tuesday night.

This is what made the jaws of Beltre and Gallo drop to the dugout floor. It was the bottom of the third inning, and the Rangers were down 3-0 to the Milwaukee Brewers. With two men on, left fielder Carlos Gomez stepped up to the plate. And because nothing can stop Carlos Gomez and his career renaissance with the Rangers, he connected with the third pitch of the at-bat and sent it to the moon.

Not only did the homer tie the game, but it was HUGE. It landed in the first row of the upper deck of Globe Life Park. According to Statcast, Gomez’s homer traveled 444 feet. So you can understand why Gallo and Beltre looked like this while they watched that homer fly.

Someone needs to contact the Oxford English Dictionary, because that image should be what you see what you look up the word “awestruck.” But here’s an important question: were they awestruck because the homer tied the game, or because it was absolutely monstrous?

Let’s go with both.
