Gerald Green's hair officially has Celtic pride

Nine years after he was packaged up with Ryan Gomes, Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair and draft picks that would later become Wayne Ellington and Jonny Flynn and shipped to Minnesota in the deal that brought Kevin Garnett to the TD Garden, Gerald Green is once again a member of the Boston Celtics, the team that drafted him in 2005 and with whom he won the 2007 Slam Dunk Contest. And, from the looks of things, he feels pretty lucky to be back with the C’s:

Yep, that’s right: in preparation for his first game back in a Celtics uniform, with Boston taking on the Brooklyn Nets at the Garden on Wednesday night, Green got his hair braided into the shape of — what else? — a shamrock.

Green told Tom Westerholm of MassLive.com that the braiding process took an hour and a half to complete, which is a small price to pay for such fine craftsmanship:

It remains to be seen how big a role Green will play as a reserve wing on a Celtics team that’s already loaded with versatile forwards and guards, or how effective he’ll be in his second stint in Boston, now that he’s a nearly 31-year-old veteran journeyman who has played for 11 teams in the last nine years (including two in Russia and one in China). If the old adage of “look good, play good” holds up, the answers might be “bigger than you’d expect, and quite well.” If nothing else, though, at least we know he’s committed to his current employer; we’ve got the follicular receipts to prove it.
