#Australia. I'm not sure a picture could better sum up the fear and devastation more succinctly. I'm no expert but from (friends') messages and reading I've done on the subject, mismanagement of forest underbrush in the winter months and of overall water resources have helped create a perfect storm in the face of this drought (climate change, if you will). I hope there is a silver lining and important lessons learned (for everyone around the world) from the ongoing catastrophes once the dust settles. One of my biggest fears as a kid was fires and ironically enough, my mom was a firefighter. Maybe one created the other. Hoping for safety and refuge for all my human and animal friends down under. Feel free to put links and info to good charities and support groups in the comments below. (As a side note...corrections in parenthesis above and I might take a second to explain myself since meanings can be lost in context online very quickly. While well-intentioned, I can understand the high stress levels and the sensitive nature of it all so I apologize if my words caused anyone to feel personally offended or if i just sounded like an uninformed dumbass! I wasn't trying to blame, criticize, or make a passive aggressive swipe at anyone. The post was simply to bring awareness to a complex and horrible situation for everyone. Whether it's caused by a drought in the middle of climate change, arsonists, lightning strikes, water displacement, etc doesn't matter, we need solutions. Humans all wants the same thing...to feel loved, understood, and acknowledged. Now hopefully that's enough of the divisive comments and more on fixing things. I think everyone is trying to be helpful in their own way.)
