The Toronto Maple Leafs will rock their St. Pats uniforms for the first time in 15 years when they host the Chicago Blackhawks on March 18.

As part of the team’s ongoing centennial celebration, the green and white uniforms will be worn to honour the franchise’s St. Patricks era, which took place from 1919 to 1927 before the team was renamed the Maple Leafs.

This sweater in particular was worn during the 1922 to 1925 seasons, including their Stanley Cup campaign in 1921-22, before switching to the green and brown look the Leafs wore the last time they paid tribute to the St. Pats in March 2002.

Unlike those monstrosities, this version of the St. Pats look is much cleaner with minimal striping on the sweater and socks, along with green pants, gloves and white helmets.

With St. Patrick’s Day taking place the day before, the timing couldn’t be better. Now we just need the Blackhawks to sport their green and white St. Paddy’s jerseys to really liven up the festivities.
