It’s a busy 11-game slate in the NHL on Tuesday, with only Calgary and Philadelphia in a back-to-back situation. Here are your values, fades and picks for Yahoo’s daily contests.

GOALIE

Carter Hutton, STL vs. CGY ($23): With Calgary playing its second road game in consecutive nights, this is a cushy spot for Hutton. He’s posted a .920 save percentage over the past two seasons, including a 33-save performance in his first outing this year. Additionally, the Flames averaged just 2.46 goals per road game last year, and the Blues have surrendered only 2.5 goals per contest to start this season.

GOALIE TO AVOID

John Gibson, ANA at SAN ($35): While he’s allowed just two goals in each of his past three games, Gibson owns a mediocre .913 save percentage and draws a tough matchup on Tuesday. The Sharks underwhelmed at home last season with an 18-20-3 record and average of 2.8 goals per game, but are back on home ice following a five-game road trip. There are too many cushy matchups available Tuesday to gamble with Gibson against the defending Western Conference champions on the road.

CENTER

Vladislav Namestnikov, TAM at TOR ($12): After registering a goal and an assist while skating alongside Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov on Saturday, there is a lot to like about Namestnikov right now. The trio practiced together again Monday, and it’s a nice matchup against Toronto. The Maple Leafs are allowed 3.6 goals per game thus far, too.

CENTER TO AVOID

Auston Matthews, TOR vs. TAM ($26): There is everything to like about Matthews, but since his four-goal showing on Opening Night, he hasn’t produced to this salary. Additionally, his 2:31 average power play time isn’t as high as you’d like. Tampa Bay is also 4-1 to start the year and coming off a strong defensive effort against Ottawa on Saturday. There will be plenty of nights to fire up Matthews, but Tampa Bay should prove to be a matchup to avoid more often than not this season.

WING

Jaden Schwartz, STL vs. CGY ($17): Centering an interesting line with Vladimir Tarasenko and David Perron, Schwartz has an assist and five shots since returning from injury. Schwartz has also averaged 3:58 of power play time skating with the No. 1 unit. As noted, Calgary enters on the wrong end of back-to-back road games, too.

Tomas Tatar, DET vs. CAR ($15): This is a cushy salary for Tatar. He has 16 shots and an average of 4:16 of power play time over his past four games, but has registered just one goal and one assist. The shot volume and ice time will yield a better return going forward, and Carolina owns a second-worst .900 save percentage dating back to the beginning of last season.

WINGERS TO AVOID

Johnny Gaudreau, CGY at STL ($25): Reading too much into home-road splits is usually a fool’s errand, but Gaudreau’s disparity stands out. Dating back to last season, he has scored just seven goals and a minus-21 rating through 42 away games after failing to light the lamp in Chicago on Monday. The Blues are also a deep team, and the Flames will be playing their second road game in consecutive nights.

Brandon Saad, CLM at LOS ($21): Through the first four games of the season, Saad has averaged just 1:00 of power play time and returned a single assist with 14 shots on net. Head coach John Tortorella just doesn’t call Saad’s number enough to pay the price of admission Tuesday.

DEFENSE

Anton Stralman, TAM at TOR ($13): It took four games, but Stralman showed his cross-category upside Saturday against Ottawa. He registered a power play assist, posted a plus-1 rating, recorded two shots on net and blocked two shots. It added up to a tidy 12-point showing at Yahoo. In another solid matchup against Toronto, look for Stralman to present a nice return on investment at his current salary.

Noah Hanifin, CAR at DET ($12): At minimum price, Hanifin’s a high-floor option that opens cap space to spend up at other positions. The sophomore is expected to quarterback the No. 1 power play unit Tuesday, and he has three PP helpers already this season. Hanifin has also registered multiple shots in four of five games thus far.

DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID

Ryan Sproul, DET vs. CAR ($23): It’s been a solid start for Sproul, as he has an assist in consecutive games with seven shots and is averaging 3:04 in power play time. However, with an average of just 14:39 of total ice time, you’d like more minutes for the price. Maybe he beats the odds and finds the score sheet again Tuesday, but paying to find out is ill-advised.

Zach Werenski, CLM at LOS ($20): The rookie has exploded out of the gate with two goals and three assists through the first four games of the season. He’s also averaging a hefty 21:34 per night. Still, even this injury-riddled version of the Kings isn’t an inviting opponent at the Staples Center. There are better options in Werenski’s price range with softer matchups.
