Young fan cries tears of joy after getting Mike Trout's autograph

We’ve heard “there’s no crying in baseball,” but we’re willing to make an exception in this instance. One young Los Angeles Angels fan cried tears of joy after getting an autograph from superstar outfielder Mike Trout.

The beginning of the video is fairly typical. Trout is out before the start of Sunday’s game signing autographs for some young fans. When he grabs the ball from the kid in the white “Trout” jersey with the red hat, you can immediately tell he’s made the kid’s day.

It’s tough to know exactly what the kid says to Trout, but strong lip readers at home can make out the phrase “my favorite player.” After getting his ball signed, the kid triumphantly raises his hands as he runs over and embraces his dad. Then, things get a little emotional.

If you’re reading the pages of Big League Stew, there’s a good chance you’ve been a fan of the game since you were young. Like many young fans, there was probably a point in your life when you went out to the park hoping to secure an autograph from your favorite player. Put yourself in this kid’s shoes for a minute. Young you would probably feel pretty awesome, right?

It’s pretty clear how much the moment means to the fan, and it’s something he’ll probably never forget. It’s easy to be cynical in today’s world, but this was a moment of genuine joy. We should all try to appreciate it.

And let’s be real for a minute, if you root for any other American League West team, Mike Trout has definitely made you cry at least once over the past five years.
